David Hackett has been a member of the advisory board of the Center for Spirituality and Health since it began. He has an abiding interest in the Catholic contemplative tradition and has written a book on the Christian-Buddhist dialogue, The Silent Dialogue: Zen Letters to a Trappist Abbot (Continuum, 1996).

He teaches in the Department of Religion.
